Currently (February 2011) the studio are working on a number of large paintings - commissioned for Berkshire offices
This is a 2 metre x 2 metre painting for the reception area.
Stunning isn't it?
Not finished yet
Thought you might like to know how the process starts to create "proper"!! paintings
Canvases are made with good quality stretchers and heavy weight canvas.
The canvas should be pulled so taught across the stretcher that you could make a great "drumming" noise!!
Then 4 layers of gesso are put onto the canvas.
Sanding down between each layer.
A perfect product is created. Flat smooth and yummy!!
Then an undercoat is put onto the sanded gesso - in this case "Burnt umber"
Had so many to do for this project that we used 2 very large pots of underpaint.
We put on two layers on each canvas
